This year we’ll be delivering our August online training live via the Microsoft Teams webinar platform. This means you can sign up for your whole staff team, or as a group or as an individual depending on the stage you’re all at on your Emotion Works journey.
The sessions have been scheduled to coincide with the Inservice dates that the majority of Local Authorities are taking, but that doesn’t preclude you from accessing the training if your dates are different or you have something else planned, as the sessions will be recorded and shared on the Members website the day after each session.
Which Session should I attend?
Starting Out on your Emotion Works Journey:
1 Cog-at-a-time
Monday 15th August, 1:15-2:45pm
This session is for schools, groups or individuals who are new to Emotion Works implementation. We will cover everything you need as a school team, staff group, or individual to help you get set up and started with your first teaching roll-out.
The teaching programme we’ll be focussing on in this session is the ‘1 Cog-at-a-time’ programme. During the training we’ll direct you to the resources and activities that will help you introduce Emotion Works to pupils across Nursery, Lower Primary, Middle Primary & Upper Primary stages, including baseline assessments.
We’ll then show you how to get started teaching the first (Orange) cog in the Programme with guidance on moving through the remaining cogs to complete your roll-out.

next steps in your Emotion Works Journey:
1 emotion-at-a-time & literacy links
Tuesday 16th August, 1:15-2:45pm
This session is for schools, groups or individuals who are already familiar with the Emotion Cogs and are looking for new ways to deliver Emotion Works across Nursery, Lower Primary, Middle Primary and Upper Primary Stages.
The teaching programme we’ll be focusing on in this session is the ‘1 Emotion-at-a-time’ programme that we introduced last session in Block 3 of the Literacy Programme. By August it will be set out as a Programme on its own and we’ll show you how you can work through it step by step, similar to the Getting Started content.
There will be lots of added literacy links and new practice examples slotted in, along with more in-depth Literacy Topic work that we ran out of time to share last session.
